Throwback To When Graham Rahal Won At Mid-Ohio With Possibly The Best Fire Suit Of All Time
4th of July weekend is just about here and with that comes one of the favorite courses in the IndyCar series at Mid-Ohio. Going to be my first time there this weekend and I cannot wait.
But today I had to throw it back to 2015 when hometown kid Graham Rahal took the checkered flag all while wearing possibly the coolest fire suit of all time.
Long live Steak 'N Shake. They came through BIG TIME with this one. Sure, let's sponsor the car but also why not make ol' Graham actually look like one of our employees? Genius.
Now, unfortunately Steak 'N Shake is regional, and double unfortunately it's not looking like they'll stay in business much longer. But it's an Indiana staple no doubt. My grandparents first date was there back in '69 (nice) on the south side of Indy. Graham was on the all Indiana team with Dave Letterman being a co-owner of his team while also rocking the Steak 'n Shake suit. Not to mention they're the perfect colors for racing. Gimme the black and white checkered flag, suit, and add a double steakburger with it, too.
I wonder how long it will be before NBA teams add a uniform like this in the mix. They already have like seven options now with their home, away, alternate 1, alternate 2, throwback, city, legacy…might as well add a sponsor uni in there for a few games, too. Just imagine the Grizzlies rocking the black, purple, and orange at home.
The Magic could rock different disney character themed uniforms so they'd all have a different one just like the cast members at the most magical place on earth. Imagine that. Mike Breen (somehow) on the call of one of their games.
Breen: "Cole Anthony decked out in his Aladdin garb for Disney night tosses it over to RJ Hampton donning the stormtrooper look tonight. He fires the three and BAAAANG he buries it.
Van Gundy: …unlike the very troopers he's wearing tonight would have. They don't hit anything.
Mark Jackson: Are we talkin' Stawr Trek right now?
All I'm saying is they already have a patch on the uniform every night. Bet it won't be long before we see a dedicated one just like how the IndyCar drivers have to wear a suit for their sponsors.
I'll have coverage all weekend long from Mid-Ohio. Be sure to follow along.
